Page Rank...

I have lately been working a lot on the site's page rank...this what I've found: headaches....it takes a lot of work to get your PR up even one point. It is a combination of two things: links and content. So, instead of working on more links, I decided to work on content. One idea came to mind about how I could generate hundred of pages that are useful and valid...put in a FAQs section, with each FAQ having a separate page. It should give you a good fifty extra legitimate pages, and help with the overall PR of your site....Try it and let me know!

Articles, Articles, Articles....

Anyway, next topic of interest these days....ARTICLES! This I believe is the way to get links to your site without spending a dime. Try these sites for example: ezinearticles.com, amazines.com, kawarthapublishing.com just to name a few....you can submit and publish articles on these sites for free, no problem, you just have to adhere to the editorial guidelines they set forth. Anyway, find a topic that applies to your site, search for some resources on the net, and write your thoughts about it...next thing you know you will have a link and an increase to your overall page rank!

LINK FARMS - DO NOT USE!

Lately, I have been trying to get more links to the site, so without using any unethical or illegal methods I am attempting to do just that. DON'T EVER USE LINK FARMS! I cannot repeat that enough, but if you do post your site on a link farm it will not help you out! It may even penalize your site.... It has to do with the Google Algorithm which in essence takes the page rank of the site that your link is coming in from divided by the total number of links on the page that your site is listed on - so if you are putting your site on a link farm with the hopes of greatly increasing your page rank and links...you will find very minimal results! After all the frustration it may seem like the best option.....but don't fall into the trap!

Quick Update 5-20-08

So, after battling it out in the SEO world, Google has sent me another projection of our site's rankings, and I am really happy about them! If you notice the site is beginning to rank for more security related topics and it is my hope that it can rank for 'home security' or 'adt' sometime!

Long Time!~

Alright,

I'm back online! It gets tricky sometimes to balance everything while you have finals week, I think I went on hiatus a little bit from the world, but I am back! Basically what I have been working on lately is trying to generate links back to the secure24seven website. It is a time-consuming process but probably one of the most important things you can do when you are optimizing your site. One important thing to always remember, whenever you submit your article to a site like hubpages or an ezine, put a link or two back to your site, either within the body of the text or at the end of the article, ALWAYS! This will guarantee at least some form of link to connect the article to your site. Don't be blatent about advertising your site, but fit it in somehow with the context!

I'm Back!

So, ending my blog fast, I have produced a few articles which I am publishing on the secure24seven site of course along with a few other places around the web - for example hubpages.com is a great place to get some recognition on the web, you sign up, set up a 'hub' - an area where you write according to some topic of your choice and you publish it for others to see. Also, there is a new beta-site called qassia.com, which is an interesting concept where you can publish 'intel' on basically anything you want, then send it around for other people to vote on, and as a result it creates backlinks to your own website. This shows great promise since for every 'intel' you will receive a backlink. I have also begun to make my way through digg.com where you can bookmark relevant articles, videos, pictures, etc... that apply to something you are interested in. It is also another way to get your name on the market! It is also really Google-friendly to put a cherry on top!

New things....Always!

I am learning now that SEO is a nitty-gritty, OCD-forming process...there are so many small things involved, just a character can change everything! Well, some things I have done recently is to update the robots.txt file to disallow the bot form indexing some unnecessary file like cgi-bin...also I have bolded the keywords on my pages to emphasize them. Also, I submitted a sitemap sone in .xml to Google and made sure there were no broken links...just beginning!

Alright,

I busted out an article about home security and I will attempt to continue that every week, that way there is dynamic content on the site weekly, which means Google is going to go through it more often, which means better rankings overall! It really is not that hard to produce an article, it just takes you back to the ol' high school days of trying to bust out a paper in no time because you put it off for so long....

Direction...

Alright,

Checking things over, I think the direction this site needs to take is to generate new, dynamic content...so I will be spending some time researching and putting together some articles that can be placed on the site, I think this will help generate some links to the site as well, since Digg and other bookmarking sites can be used to generate those links....so I may be on a blog fast until things get researched.....

End of Week 4/5/08

Alright,

So I've written this twice now thanks to the good ol' computer glitches...anyway, an update for the first week of the project...according to google PR and my free SEO tool (http://www.seocompany.ca/tool/site-stats-web/), the site is listed at a PR of 3 which shows some promise! The site isn't listed in the top 1000 results of Google as far as I can tell, and basically things are looking pretty low, but they can only go up from here, eh?!

Okay, I now verified my site with google by inserting a small Google-generated META tag into my HTML and I have thrown in a robots.txt file into the main root domain for the secure24seven site... the .txt includes the following information:

I've created another blog for secure24seven to post home security articles, and as a results I have been blocked by Google....it is apparently their way to make sure your blog is valid, so I sent them a request to unlock it...we'll see how long that takes now...

New Project...

I have just been given a new project to take a leads site that is currently unranked by Google, and turn it into something really special...the site is www.secure24seven.com so you can check out the progress as time goes on...As it is right now, the basic images, buttons, and forms are on the page, but NO SEO or Web 2.0 has been used for the page at all.....Thus it begins!!
